About the Author George MacDonald (10 December 1824 – 18 September 1905) was a Scottish writer, poet and Christian minister, best known for his poignant fairy tales and fantasy fictions. He was an internationally renowned speaker and author of faerie stories for adults and children who counted Mark Twain, Lewis Caroll, Ralph Waldo Emerson and John Greenleaf Whittier among his friends and admirers. But be patient; allow your comprehensive abilities to be stretched by spending time pouring over his brilliantly stated observations and you will be blessed by this long gone preacher-author as he expounds the miracles of our Savior and their eternal significance. It is well worth the extra time you will invest in not only getting to know Jesus better, but becoming a friend of one of his most expressive servants. Not simply a good read, but a heart changer.

MacDonald, but this is exactly the kind of pedantic writing on Christ he usually criticizes in his fiction By deborah I usually love George MacDonald's books, but could not get past the pedantic first two chapters of this one. It is not a story, but a paper he was asked to write on the miracles of Christ.Thus, he is forced to do what he spends his books criticizing - make a dull lesson out of events that were so exciting and so easy to understand, they actually suffer from this treatment.
