Perfect for Artists and steampunk enthusiasts By SkinnyBoyArt This is a fantastic art book, full of great photos and a few paragraphs about the work and artists.The reason I gave it a four is because this is very small for an art book. Most art books I'm use to getting are like large text books or coffee table books. With the size of the book and how much writting is in it, it doesnt leave a whole lot of space for the pictures, so its kind of difficult to enjoy.However if you like art and steampunk, without a doubt you will enjoy this book. I just hope you have good eye site.

By Mary Bookhounds MY THOUGHTSABSOLUTELY LOVED ITWhat a treasure trove of artifacts are contained in this latest edition of The Art of Steampunk. I have several books on Steampunk art and a large collection of fiction based on the art. This book brings to life some of my favorite things about the movement. It is neatly divided into artists and also contains a section on the Art of Steampunk that was presented in England. I found some new artists like Jessica Joslin and Eric Freitas that have some amazing sculptures. It also contains the art of Richard Nagy, creator or the steampunk computer.The pictures are of very high quality and nicely laid out with a page about each artist and then a few more with lovely snaps of their work. I found so many things I would love to own and display. I just love the whole style of this art work. This would make a wonderful gift for lovers of the odd and unique. I thought this was a bit more educational than the first edition with more information about the whole movement. I wish that some of my favorite steampunk authors would have been mentioned to round things out. You can check out Jules Verne, Cassandra Clare, or Gail Carriger who are all amazing authors.

PC 168 pgs. 9” x 7 1/2” on glossy formatted media depicting myriads of vividly coloured Steampunk creations. The author’s 30 yrs. experience with interior design including Radio City Music Hall, Tiffany’s, St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, etc., he provided him background for exquisite detailed photo-documentation of this art-form which appeared to develop in Europe c. late 1990’s.For the uninitiated, Steampunk Art-form embraces a large element of Victorian Era design, a cultural time of innovation with introduction of numerous mechanical devices, wheels, pulleys, belts the steam engine, and distinctive dress styles so that bizarre devices, clothing and portraiture are part of Steam Punk culture. It is the essence of what had been described as do-dads, do-hickeys, thingamajigs, etc. The materials used may be old, resurfaced, new composed of base or precious metals, crystal, pocket watches, etc., and more recently may embrace some elements of Si-Fi & futuristic trends though many suggest elements of long-gone civilization artifacts.For illustrations of diversity of styles, the author has show-cased a dozen Steampunk creators from here and abroad. Overall, there is considerable emphasis on “recycling” old watches, guns, optical devices, pressure gauges, clocks, pulleys, face masks, leather and jewelry.The author names Anna Dabrowska & Evelyn Kriete as canvass Steampunk artists, but, as a fancier & collector of Steampunk art-forms, I would be amiss not to include certain artists, imprimaturs - Mark Ryden and Annie Owens (“Hi-Fructose”), etc.Art-lovers are a special breed - some love Rembrandt’s, others find nothing there…so it is with Steampunk, some will find it irresistible, others another’s piece of junk. This is a book that belongs on your coffee table for all ages to appreciate, a great conversation piece nicely priced.finis
