Seventh Sense - Pet Behavior Newsletter By William E Campbell (...)Seventh Senseby Diane Arrington1st Books Library($) paperbackIf you ever want to just put the world and its horrific visions aside for a mental/emotional therapeutic hour or so, get Diane Arrington's new book, epublished and amazingly economical in both editions, the electronic and paperback.Since 1975, this insightful and prolific author has been sharing her concepts and dreams with readers. However, Seventh Sense is unique in its superbly written accounts of events between animals and people and animals, even dogs and ducks. The mental images will make for countless moments of reverie when the pressures of life become unbearable. Its forty-six fascinating chapter-stories of people/animal adventures are crowned, for my mind, by Chapter 46, the story of Sandy and Waldo, a dog and a duck, whose reunion could bring tears from the hearts of the most cynical among us. Throughout it, the author avoided making "monkeys" out of the pets' owners, showing that her compassion knows no bounds. Get it, then leave it on the coffee table for a fast-fix from stress. As another reviewer so accurately noted, THE perfect antidote for stressful days. You will enjoy reading it again and again.I've been fortunate enough to have the help of Ms. Arrington to identify and correct a serious sibling rivalry/pack order issue in our own home and found she is every bit as compassionate, patient, gentle and wise in person to both animals and owners alike. Without her knowledegable guidance we would not have been able to keep our animal family together. Just as wonderful is how great our relationships are with our pets now that we use her method...so relaxed and calm. No need to clap hands and shout "no barking!" when we get even faster, happier results by quietly saying, "shhhh" or "gentle". Nope, I didn't think that possible, having tried everything from traditional techniques to Cesar's Way to New Skete monks, until we followed her PetPerfect method. Training went from a dreaded chore to fun, for both the dogs and us! Results the same day, amazing changes within the first ten days. Without ever being harsh, raising our voice, or inflicting pain. Our dogs understand what we're asking and WANT to obey. I'm sorry to see Amazon does not yet carry her other books, which are training manuals. But you can get them from her website (petPerfect.com)if you cannot enlist her services in person.
