It was a nice little mystery that had me wondering just what the heck was going on, and it was also bloody and truly disgusting! I'd love for this to be made in to a series. Yep, I'd recommend this story. But really, only if you can handle the ick factor!

There is nothing like a wild bad boy but finding out He is an undercover agent made it even more thrilling. The way this story ended was absolutely perfect. I loved him and Jules together. Their passion sent flames up and the fact they where willing to do anything for each other showed how strongly their truly cared. I really loved the thrill, suspense, steamy and romance aspects all of this series.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This rating is for the series By Kindle Customer Excellent writing and I cared enough about the ending to buy the next two. However what is frustrating is in order to complete the story you had to buy two smaller novels.I'm getting to the point of only downloading stand alone because I do not have the money or patience to get stopped in the middle of a story. As I said the story and writing deserve 5 stars but not the marketing so it got downgraded.

While he used to build and then never touch again, recently he has become more adventurous and wants to build the set then take it apart and see what else he can do.We have the Lego Idea Book and a few other hardback, beautiful Lego books around the house that have been well loved and well used. This new LEGO Awesome Ideas book is full of EVEN MORE fantastic ideas. It is split into five categories: Outer Space, Modern Metropolis, The Wild West, Fantasy Land and The Real World. You can even learn how to build a LEGO world from scratch using the themed worlds section.A great gift for any Lego enthusiast, it is packed with projects, although there is a need to have a well rounded Lego collection in order to make many of the items. Not a problem for us, but might be for someone just starting on their Lego journey. The photos are lovely, the sections well put together and the instructions are easy to understand, at least they are for my son.

This is our first Lego idea book. My boys were thrilled with the book since they love Legos. We have a few sets of random Legos and then we have a few sets that are the character/playset kind that come as a set to build exactly like shown.I like that the book gives ideas as what to build so you can build things other than just what the sets show when you buy them. But here comes the good and bad for us. The building ideas are great with but detailed and specific pieces. The book even tells you what sets or kinds of sets to get the projects from. The problem is that my boys want to build the ideas they see in the book but don’t have the right Lego pieces. The Lego ideas aren’t just the run of the mill projects using straight brick pieces. Don’t get me wrong, I love the projects and that they aren’t average or boring but if you don’t already have a lot of the Lego sets, you won’t have the pieces to build them. I do really like that if you do already have a Lego set, this gives you projects that you can build in addition to how the set came. This is definitely one of those, your mileage may vary. I realize that lots of families have every Lego set on the market but we don’t have very many so that limits us on which projects we can build. It does also have simple builds too. It states that it’s for beginners to accomplished builders and that is true. It’s also recommended for children ages 7 to 10, some of these projects would definitely be on the older side of that if not even older. I would say 8 - 12 ages. I think younger children would have trouble doing some of the builds because the instructions are not step-by-step but ideas in general.

A Great Helpmate for Lego Lovers By Emory Daniels Growing up Tinker Toys, as I remember, was the toy of choice for several years – remaining a favorite from one generation to the next. Years ago Legos assumed the same status and will probably remain on top for some time into the future.I am amazed that young children today, ages 7-8 and older, will spend hours building things with Legos when they are too wound up to engage in other activities. Yes, it is creative play and lots of fun but Legos also seems to have a calming effect when a child is concentrating hard on what he/she needs to do next and what part they need to continue making their project.A wonderful book has just been written by Daniel Lipkowitz, entitled “Lego Awesome Ideas: What Will You Build?”, that would be a perfect gift for any child with a Lego set(s). The first thing that grabs my attention is the 3-D cover displaying items made with Legos.I also am impressed that the author not only displays photos of parts but also supplies names for each piece. After starting out with a helpful page on “What every building needs to know,” Lipkowitz then supplies broad categories of which each has several individual projects. The categories include outer space, modern metropolis, the Wild West, fantasy land, and the real world. If I were a child and had the patience and concentration skills of a Legos fan, some of the projects I would love to attempt include a forklift robot, tables and chairs gallery, the farmer’s field, cavalry fort, a jailhouse, the old mind, a waterfall, tree house, a castle tower, a cell phone, a gingerbread man, and a popsicle.I know lots of children who would love this book, which really makes it tough to decide with whom to share the many neat ideas it contains.

This one is a little different than other 'cat' coloring books that I have. The cats are drawn a little more 'stylistically' rather than perfectly anatomically correct. The pages are a bit more cartoon like than totally realistic, but I like the style. They are cute and quirky--lots of kitties getting into mischief! Some pages are more cartoon like than other.Details:*The pages are single sided (hooray), and the paper is the same as all the other Amazon Createspace-published coloring books. Nice and smooth, but not really thick enough to prevent marker bleed through, or use with water media.*32 drawings, each about 6x9" centered with a border in the center of the page*There are several Christmas themed pages, a Halloween page, and a Thanksgiving page.*Nice little non-cat details on many pages (see my 'sushi' page I uploaded)If you are a cat lover, I'm sure this book will provide hours of coloring enjoyment!

There are 32 fun and funny designs in this book. The pictures are all done horizontally – which is unusual compared to most coloring books. For this subject, I really like it. It forces you to turn the book sideways which puts the binding at the top of the page – that makes it definitely more user friendly for both right and left handed colorists. The designs show cats doing all sorts of stunts that cats really do. As I looked at each image, I could easily say – my cat did that! I especially like the two with the Christmas tree – the box in one is infinitely more interesting than all the toys and in the other – well cats and Christmas trees – need I say more? I am going to have so much fun with this book. My other cat coloring books primarily focus on the cat but in this book, the situations are equally important. I was happy to note this book is named Book 1 as I hope to see more of these adorable cats in the future. The designs are printed on one side of thin bright white paper. The designs all stop well short of the bound edge with a “framing” line around the design. That way, you won't lose any part of the image if you choose to cut a page out of the book. The binding is glued, so it may be easier to cut off the binding (office supply stores can do this) rather than cut out a page at a time. I was able to break the spine by pushing on it hard and could get the book to lay flat. All of my markers and gel pens bleed-through on this paper. My coloring pencils go on nicely. I will certainly be using all three in my coloring of these designs, so I will place a heavyweight piece of paper or chipboard under my working page to keep the rest of the book from absorbing any of the ink.I was provided a free sample copy of this coloring book for test and review purposes.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Cute and fun! By Farm Kat This book is an adorable and fun way to custom color your love of cats. The drawings are simple, funny and easy to color, whether you get precise or just play with colors a little every day (I just have it out on my desk) and end up with something surprising. It's way more fun than a puzzle! I recognized my kitties in a number of the drawings. The author/artist has a good eye for feline characters and attitudes. I think this is a fun idea for those cat lovers (of any age) who don't even know they still like to color!

Employing intuitive ideas from mathematics, this quirky "meta-memoir" raises questions about our lives that most of us don't think to ask, but arguably should: What part of memory is reliable fact, what part creative embellishment? Which favorite presuppositions are unfounded, which statistically biased? By conjoining two opposing mindsets--the suspension of disbelief required in storytelling and the skepticism inherent in the scientific method--bestselling mathematician John Allen Paulos has created an unusual hybrid, a composite of personal memories and mathematical approaches to re-evaluating them.Entertaining vignettes from Paulos's biography abound--ranging from a bullying math teacher and a fabulous collection of baseball cards to romantic crushes, a grandmother’s petty larceny, and his quite unintended role in getting George Bush elected president in 2000. These vignettes serve as springboards to many telling perspectives: simple arithmetic puts life-long habits in a dubious new light; higher dimensional geometry helps us see that we're all rather peculiar; nonlinear dynamics explains the narcissism of small differences cascading into very different siblings; logarithms and exponentials yield insight on why we tend to become bored and jaded as we age; and there are tricks and jokes, probability and coincidences, and much more. For fans of Paulos or newcomers to his work, this witty commentary on his life--and yours--is fascinating reading.

A Numerate Life: A Mathematician Explores the Vagaries of Life, His Own and Probably Yours, by John Allen Paulos

Review "There's nothing more enlightening than a view of life's nuances as seen through the lens of a mathematician.  Especially when that mathematician is John Allen Paulos, a brilliant educator who persistently empowers the reader to think in ways that render transparent much of what is opaque in the world around us."―NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON, Astrophysicist, American Museum of Natural History“A Numerate Life is the engaging history of a mathematical mind. As always, John Paulos displays his genius for making the abstract and abstruse entirely intuitive.”   —SYLVIA NASAR, author of A Beautiful Mind   “A quirky and surprisingly poignant book about the struggle to make sense of one’s own life story. With the help of logic and statistical reasoning, Paulos shines a light on the paradoxes and delusions that so often bedevil our remembrance of things past. Where Proust had his madeleine, Paulos has math.”   —STEVEN STROGATZ, professor of mathematics, Cornell University, and author of The Joy of X   “American editor Ellery Sedgwick wrote once that ‘autobiographies ought to begin with Chapter Two.’ I believe that had he read A Numerate Life, he would have agreed that Chapter One is no less fascinating than any other chapter in this wonderful book. Paulos’s life is a rich tapestry embroidered with mathematical gems.”   —MARIO LIVIO, astrophysicist, author of Brilliant Blunders and The Golden Ratio   “In this gripping page-turner, John Allen Paulos surprises us once again, with a ‘memoir’ like no other memoir. He may not have made, as he claims, any ‘seminal contributions’ to mathematics, but his impact on ‘meta-mathematics,’ and the interface of math with the real world, far surpasses that of any single living mathematician. You will never be able to read biographies the same way again, since this is not yet-another-memoir, but a thought-provoking, path-breaking, ‘meta-memoir’ and even ‘anti-memoir.’”   —DORON ZEILBERGER, Board of Governors professor of Mathematics, Rutgers University, and winner of the Leroy P. Steele Prize and the Euler Medal in Mathematics

About the Author John Allen Paulos is a professor of mathematics at Temple University and the author of eight previous books, including the best-selling Innumeracy and A Mathematician Reads the Newspaper.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Simultaneously Thought-Provoking and Entertaining By James D. Stein John Allen Paulos, who has accomplished the unheard-of double of writing best-sellers about mathematics and inserting a word ('innumeracy') into the language, has attempted another ambitious feat – bringing mathematics to bear on one of the few subjects it has yet to examine: biography and autobiography. A Numerate Life (Prometheus Books, 2015) is simultaneously a charming memoir and a highly entertaining venture into mathematics, literature, and philosophy. This is one of those rare books that, when you have finished a section, you are torn between going on to the next section and re-reading the last section to make sure that you got everything out of it. The subtitle of the book is "A Mathematician Explores the Vagaries of Life, His Own and Probably Yours". You'll be a little skeptical about that subtitle before you read the book, but when you finish it, you'll realize the subtitle nails it — he's talking, not just about himself, but about you. A fascinating read.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A Numerate Life Delivers! By Amazon Customer In his latest book John Allen Paulos brings to bear his considerable experience and expertise in the world of mathematics and applies it to the world of biography and autobiography. Displaying the wit and wisdom and humor that have been the hallmark of his previous eight books, Paulos asks if we can ever truly know ourselves objectively and quantifiably. Conversely the author seems to state how easy it is to know ourselves and others given quantifiable fields.Utilizing topology, scaling, statistics and probability Mr. Paulos suggests that each life is different, and yet, via the benefit of scaling, each life is very much the same. To wrap that idea up in a paragraph las short as this makes the authors findings seem trite, however, they are anything but!!Consider, Mr. Paulos says, an autobiography or even an authorized biography of some "famous" person. Such a biography will only include relevant points to show the famous person's rise to their current celebrity while discounting the outliers, the unusable data, the "small stories" which may provide a more consistent or variable "take" on he person in question! Using statistics Paulos suggests that each life is very much the same in its move forward and its disregard for the outliers. How much do we lose in that disregard for the outliers? Perhaps nothing. Perhaps everything. Even outliers need quantification!Neither completely mathematical instruction, nor autobiography Mr. Paulos' slim book - weighing in at 188 pages, plus notes - provides some curious and thoughtful insight into his life and into our lives. Grounded with firm mathematical knowledge, Mr. Paulos runs the gamut from the mundane - deciding whether the toilet seats should be up or down, establishing a policy or poolicy or even peelicy - to the abstract and almost to the sublime - I considered for a very long time Mr. Paulos' line; "....personal identity is a nominal, evanescent thing and not an unchanging essence that adheres to us throughout our lives."Buy this book! Read it, be challenged by it, throw it down in disgust or confusion, pick it up again in thoughtful consideration and treasure your gleanings. And then finally give thanks for it. It's not every day that someone so intelligent and humble and humorous and gracious gives you this much time and consideration and shares so much.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful meta-memoir By Sinai Robins John Allen Paulos is witty, light, eloquently introspective, and uses his mathematical mind to assess his life-experiences, from his parents and childhood experiences, to random chances in life, stock markets, card tricks, and more. It was an endearing book to cuddle up with, very human, and accessible to all of us.In the current world, where mathematics has become, and will continue to become, increasingly important this book hits a subtle and important balance between our humanity, our finite lives, our smiles, our love, and our frailties, with the power and elegance of mathematics and how it pertains to our daily lives in ways that we may not realize. Paulos admits all of these things about himself, and indeed how all of them often pertain to the rest of us as well.

By Skip Goforth It was a half-century ago when my mother and I entered the dark, dusky interior of an old used bookstore on Market Street, in downtown St.Louis Missouri. I was about ten years old, but I already had a burning interest in Flying Saucers, as most people called them back then.It was a hot topic, and Saucer sightings were in the news all the time. I ate up every book and story I could find about these strange objects in the sky. Then I saw a blue copy of Gray Barker's "They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers", and mom let me buy it.This book hooked me for a lifetime wanting to know everything about UFO's.Finally, I saw one myself, in September of 1969, with three witnesses...a red glowing, silent egg-shaped light no more than 500 feet above us. It stuck around too, while we got out of the car and gazed upon it in silent wonder. This glowing thing was a UFO in the strictest definition, but I have no idea what it was or where it came for, but it behaved like it was intelligently controlled, and it was very scary!Back to Mr. Gray's book...skeptics nowadays say it was bogus from the start, but it's a great read, and like another reviewer said, it does belong in the canon of UFO literature.I hope all of you reading this review gets to read this book and enjoy it as much as I did!

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. And They Took It to Their Graves - 2 1/2 Stars By M. Hughes I'd like to be able to give half star ratings on some of this stuff. 2 1/2 for this one. The title and premise of this book is that the witness and insider accounts of the early days of the flying saucer phenomenon accounted for these fellows disappearing and/or going belly up. And I don't doubt that in some instances that might have been true. I found the book interesting enough to buy because it was such an early account of the phenomenon and as such important because the information was still fresh and strategies for disinformation were still evolving. However, if "they knew too much" then they took it to their graves, because the author is unable to relate anything here that would have gotten anyone killed - let alone pestered. Slightly interesting because of its vintage, but if you want to read about the early days then read Donald Keyhoe, Edward Ruppelt, J. Allen Hynek, etc.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. A classic must-read for anyone interested in phenomena. By A Customer Considering the reputation of the author as a bold-faced hoaxer, this book is still considered to be the one that started it all-Flying Saucers, Men-in-Black, Lemuria-it's all here. Although many current researchers and Roswell-philes may be quick to discredit and sweep Barker under the carpet, They Knew Too Much is still an integral part of the canon.

Excerpt from Oxford Lectures on PoetryThis volume consists of lectures delivered during my tenure of the Chair of Poetry at Oxford and not included in Shakespearean Tragedy. Most of them have been enlarged, and all have been revised. As they were given at intervals, and the majority before the publication of that book, they contained repetitions which I have not found it possible wholly to remove. Readers of a lecture published by the University of Manchester on English Poetry and German Philosophy in the Age of Wordsworth will pardon also the restatement of some ideas expressed in it.The several lectures are dated, as I have been unable to take account of most of the literature on their subjects published since they were delivered. They are arranged in the order that seems best to me, but it is of importance only in the case of the four which deal with the poets of Wordsworth's time.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Bradley contains essays on :Poetry for Poetry's Sake, The Sublime, Hegel's Theory of Tragedy, Wordsworth, Shelley's View of Poetry, The Long Poem in the Age of Wordsworth, The Letters of Keats, The Rejection of Falstaff, Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare the Man, Shakespeare's Theatre and Audience.I especially enjoyed the essay on Keats where Bradley focuses on the meaning of Beauty in Keats' letters. His appreciation of the remarkable character of Keats and how this is reflected both in the Letters and the Poems is instructive. The essay on Shakespeare the Man I found a bit speculative , yet another attempt to say something about the character of the character who mastered and made so many different characters. It is interesting that Bradley believes that Shakespeare is the poet who best exemplified Keats' prescription for what a poet ideally should be, one whose negative capability means he is within and without all the characters he creates. The essay on Wordsworth focuses on his originality especially in finding in the simplicities of daily life, and in simple characters the deepest expressions of human soul. But there is much more than I have indicated here . This is a classic set of essays by one of the English literary traditions, most important critics.

As opposed to "Shakesperean Tragedy". his epic, this book contains criticism of authors other than Shakespeare, although his criticism of Anthony and Cleopatra is superb. Any one who enjoys Shakesperean criticism will, I think, find much to enjoy in this book.
